What is multi-model generation?

Multi-model generation allows you to create images with multiple AI models at the same time using a single prompt. This lets you:
  • Compare results: See how different models interpret the same prompt
  • Save time: Generate multiple variations without waiting for each individually
  • Find the best fit: Discover which model works best for your specific needs
  • Explore options: Quickly see different artistic interpretations

How it works

1

Select multiple models

In the model selection interface, choose up to four AI models to run in parallel.
Each model produces one image; failed models won’t block successful ones.
2

Enter your prompt

Write your prompt as you normally would. All selected models will use the same prompt.
3

Configure settings

Pick the shared aspect ratio for the batch and (optionally) attach reference images. All selected models use the same prompt and references.
4

Generate

Click generate. Open Canva will create images with all selected models simultaneously.
5

Compare results

Once generation completes, you’ll see the batch in your session history. Open the batch to flip through each model’s output and download or reuse them as references.

When to use multi-model generation

Exploring different styles

Generate the same prompt with multiple models to see different artistic interpretations:
  • Flux: Photorealistic, detailed
  • Ideogram: Text-friendly, modern
  • Other models: Various styles and approaches

Finding the right model

Use multi-model generation to discover which model works best for your specific use case without generating multiple times sequentially.

Client presentations

Show clients multiple options at once, demonstrating different approaches to the same concept.

Learning and experimentation

Compare how different models handle the same prompt to better understand each model’s strengths.

Best practices

Start with 2-3 models: This keeps comparisons clear without overloading the batch.
Use clear prompts: Well-written prompts help all models produce better results.
Compare systematically: Note which models excel at different types of prompts.
Consider costs: Each selected model counts as its own generation and cost line item.

Comparing results

When you receive multiple results:
  1. Review each image: Look at quality, detail, and style
  2. Check prompt adherence: See which models followed your prompt most closely
  3. Evaluate aesthetics: Determine which style matches your vision
  4. Note strengths: Identify what each model does well
  5. Save favorites: Download or save the results you like best

Tips for better comparisons

Use consistent settings: Keep settings the same across models for fair comparison.
Document results: Take notes on which models work best for different prompt types.
Iterate: If one model produces better results, try variations with that model.

Limitations

Generation time: Multi-model runs wait for each model to finish; you may see staggered completions.
Resource usage: Each model consumes credits separately.
Settings compatibility: Aspect ratios are validated automatically—if a model cannot support a choice, you’ll be prompted to adjust.
