Creating your account

Sign up for Open Canva using any of these methods:

Choose your sign-up method

  • Email and password: Enter your first name, last name, email, and a secure password
  • Google OAuth: Click “Sign in with Google” for one-click access
Google sign-in is the fastest way to get started — no password to remember.

Verify your email

If you sign up with email and password, you’ll receive a verification email. Click the link to activate your account.
Google sign-ups skip email verification since your identity is already confirmed by the provider.

Start creating

After sign-up, you’ll land in the app with 50 free credits on the Starter plan. Create a session and start generating immediately.

You can sign in with any method linked to your account. If you signed up with email, you can still use Google sign-in later if it shares the same email address.

Account management

Profile settings

Access your account settings to manage:
  • Profile information: Update your first and last name
  • Password: Change your password (email accounts only)
  • Subscription: View and manage your plan

Password recovery

If you forget your password:
  1. Click Forgot password on the sign-in page
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Check your inbox for a reset link
  4. Set a new password
For security, the reset flow does not reveal whether an email address has an account.

Organizations

Open Canva supports organizations for team collaboration. After signing in, you may be prompted to create or join an organization.

Troubleshooting

  • Verify you’re using the correct email address
  • Check if you need to verify your email (check spam folder)
  • Try resetting your password
  • If you signed up with Google, use Google sign-in
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Check your spam or junk folder
  • Verify the email address is correct
  • Wait a few minutes and check again
  • Request a new verification email from the sign-in page
Currently, email address changes are not supported. You’ll need to create a new account with a different email address.
