  ## New features

  **Revamped image editing toolbar** — The image editing toolbar has been rebuilt for a smoother experience. Hover over any generated image to access crop and split-grid tools directly from the overlay — no extra menus required. Toolbar dropdowns now open upward to avoid clipping, and menus work reliably even inside tightly packed grid layouts. Learn more in the [image generation guide](/image-generation/introduction).

  **Video upscale from uploads** — You can now upload your own videos for [Topaz upscaling](/video-generation/introduction), not just videos generated within Open Canva. Select any supported video file from your device and upscale it to higher resolutions based on your plan tier.

  ## Updates

  **Smarter generation retries** — Failed generations are now monitored by a dedicated dead-letter queue with configurable retry policies. If a generation fails due to a transient provider error, the system automatically retries it before marking it as failed — so you're less likely to lose a generation to a temporary glitch. Check the [generation status page](/image-generation/status) for real-time progress.

  **Richer model information** — Model cards now display more detailed metadata, including use-case descriptions and capability highlights, making it easier to choose the right model for your project. Duplicate or outdated descriptions have been cleaned up across the [model catalog](/image-generation/models).

  **Clearer trial-to-paid transitions** — If you're on a free trial, the checkout flow now clearly explains what happens when your trial ends — including which plan you'll convert to and when billing starts. This removes any ambiguity around the upgrade process. See [billing plans](/billing/plans) for details.

  ## Bug fixes

  * **Editing URL resolution** — Fixed an issue where the image editing toolbar could fail to load images stored with relative URLs, particularly for older generations.
  * **Session folder types** — Resolved a bug where certain folder configurations in the [sessions sidebar](/sessions/organizing) could cause type errors, preventing drag-and-drop from working correctly.
  * **Sidebar layout overlap** — Fixed an edge case where the sidebar could overlap the main content area when the assistant island was open simultaneously.
